Been A While!
Hi gang - Been a while since I posted here. Just wanted to say hi and that I am considering reviving this thing. But maybe not. | | Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 | | 2:44 pm |
Need opinions!
Ok - need opinions. I'm 'auditioning' to be in a D & D 3.5 campaign, heavily story-driven, rather than game mechanic-y. Since they've lost their cleric, their party cosists of a Paladin, 2 Rangers and a Thief, and I'm guessing some kind of healer class would benefit the party most. However, my propensity is to make a stereotypical class character and then tweak it within an inch of it's life. I've come up with these character concepts (not even knowing what level of character I'm looking at) and want to see peoples' thoughts on them. I'm assuming the Greyhawk campaign (the previous cleric was a cleric of Avandra) and have no idea if the DM is allowing prestige classes, expanded class book ideas, etc. Hit me. ***** Borin Rumblethunder Dwarven Warpriest of St Cuthbert: LG Domains: Protection, Destruction (Glory) (if high enough level to acquire Warpriest Prestige Class) This dwarf has not turned his back on Moradin, but has found the ideals of St Cuthbert more in line with his personal ethos. Others would say he was just looking for a fight. Despite his motivations though, Borin is unrelenting in the cause of retribution, quick to punish evil and even quicker to defend the innocent, just as long as he can do it from the frontline, not the back. ***** Estral "One-Note" Delver, the Worst Bard in the Realms Half-elven Cleric of Olidammara, former Bard (1 level of Bard before switching to Cleric): NG Domains: Knowledge, Trickery Estral had a brief career as a bard before an enraged crowd chased him into the local gambling house, which secretly was also a Temple to Olidammara, goddess of Thievery. Accidentally blundering into the secret worship area, he disguised himself as a Cleric of Olidammara and proved so convincing that he basically just stayed, doing what comes naturally. ***** R'khari Half-Orc Cleric of Kord, CG, Sacred Fist Prestige class Domains: Strength, Luck (Good) (if high enough level to acquire Sacred Fist prestige class) This half-orc was raised by clerics of Kord who recognized that he was especially blessed by Kord. He grew up to be a 6'6" monstrously strong freak of nature who shows a propensity for unarmed combat. Despite his inhuman ancestry, he shows a remarkable propensity to higher aspirations than regular orcs. | | Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 | | 5:46 pm |
Cajiuat Factoid of the Day
The filling inside the Cadbury Creme Eggs we all love so much is a variant on the recipe for fondant, which has become popular with cake decorators. In the Cadbury creme eggs, it is originally in a solid form when the egg is formed around it, and then the chocolate egg is injected with an enzyme which gives the fondant the creamy texture you get when you break the egg open. The Cold Hand of Age...
I just had to explain to a younger co-worker what a dot-matrix printer was. It started with, "You see, before they had printers that took regular sheets of paper... " I feel so old. | | Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 | | 10:49 am |

The little plastic things on the end of your shoelaces (speculatively called 'flugelbinders' by Tom Cruise in the movie Cocktail are called aglets, or aiglets. THe name derives from the French word for needle. | | Friday, January 25th, 2008 | | 7:20 pm |

Heh heh "The mistake the first two little pigs made was letting the wolf get close. Smart thing to do woul dhave been to blast him when he started up the path."
Best line I've read in a while. Made me chuckle out loud. This is going to be a good book. The Morningstar Strain: Plague Of The Dead by Z A Recht. | | Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008 | | 8:17 am |

Need Computer/Network Help, PLEEZE!
Ok, so here's the deal - last Tuesday, I finally got my MacBook in and Wednesday morning, thinking I was smarter than the average bear, tried to set up a wireless network by buying a wireless router and counting on my native intelligence (such as it is) and my Powers of Asian-ness(tm) to be able to figure out how to do everything. By Wednesday noon, I seemingly had everything working as intended and headed off to go carol for about 9 hours. Upon returning home, I discovered that the network I had set up was only holding connection for about 15 minutes at a time, whereupon my MacBook would disconnect and not be able to reconnect unless I rebooted it and restarted my cable modem by unplugging it, waiting about 10 seconds and restarting it. Also, it seems that my desktop also had the same intermittent connection. Very annoying. After several days of not being able to figure out how to fix it, I decided last night to hook everything back up to how it was pre-tinkering so I could at least get my emails answered and stuff printed. However, now that I am back to my desktop, I find that my connection is really dodgy and slower than heck... I'm about ready to take a shotgun to this thing out of sheer frustration. Ummm... help? The cable guy who's gonna hook me up properly isn't due until Tuesday (with the photon torpedoes, tractor beam and nursing staff) and if I have to deal with this for more than a day or two, I'm gonna burn this mother down, I can feel it. Thanks in advance! EDIT: It seems I have found the offending program and purged it from my computer. Things seem to be back to normal for my desktop. In a little while when I have time, I'll be brave enough to hook the wireless back up and see if that fixes things for my Mac Book. 8) Current Mood: pissed off | | Saturday, October 13th, 2007 | | 9:42 am |
Observations on the Decline of the English Language
Quote from work today: Me: "May I have your zip code, please?" Random Phone Customer: "Nine hundred sixty-six." Me: "..." (mental sigh) For the love of God, Shakespeare and the English Language, 90066 is NOT nine hundred sixty-six! 966 is nine hundred sixty-six. 90066 is nine, zero, zero, six, six. I understand that she sees a nine hundred followed by a sixty-six, but I hope and pray for the sake of following generations that whoever this woman is, her children aren't being taught the same concept of counting. (End rant - just had to get that out of my system. Sorry.) | | Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007 | | 7:21 am |
Are you kidding me?
Did they really? Did they really make the people who make the show "Last Man Standing" change the name to "Last One Standing"? I'm not sexist, but really... was that phrase, which is simply a colloquialism, so completely offensive to women that they had to change it? To me, that's like saying "Look George... the name of your movie is just too aggressive... we'd like you to call it Star Contest instead... we think it'll sound just as cool without stepping on too many toes, ok? Thanks." This country is completely whipped* and it's pissing me off. * The full wording of this colloquialism has been intentionally omitted because it IS offensive, and I just don't like saying it anyway. Fornicate off and become living impaired if you've got a problem with that. | | Thursday, August 23rd, 2007 | | 4:40 pm |
Justice is served!... NOT
Wow... Lindsay Lohan is headed to jail! For ONE day. (Actually, she was sentenced to 96 hrs, but the judge gave her credit for time served.) W T F? This is her 2nd DUI in 4 months? I just can't wait to see what Paris Hilton says about this. I just want a transcript of the trial to see if the words, "I'd like to see the defendant alone in my chambers." came up at any point from the judge. | | Saturday, August 11th, 2007 | | 10:42 am |
*Sigh*
Are people stupid? Is that just it? Alas, I'm at work today and consoled myself by reading the news on Yahoo. The first two stories that caught my eye were: 1) Are Virtual Girlfriends/Wives cheating? Basically, a married man is spending all his time online in Second Life with the woman he proposed to and married ingame. This might make me unpopular, but yeah, it's cheating, IMO. YES, it's just a game, but he's spending more time online with the other player and ignoring his wife. How is that not cheating? I don't care if it's pixels and virtual money and property. The emotions are real. Anytime something else becomes more important than wife and family, it's cheating. Like Chris Rock says, you've gotta be into the same stuff or it just won't work. The RL wife needs to stand up for herself and set her man straight, or put him on the road. 2) Man sues flower company for exposing his affair: 'Nuff said - the flower company sent a 'Thank you for your business' card to his house, his wife found it and he's busted. They had previously been in the process of a divorce, reconciled and then she found him out and continued the divorce proceedings. He blamed the flower company. I guess this comes from people needing to blame something other than themselves when they get caught doing something they shouldn't be doing. Hi, YOU'RE CHEATING ON YOUR WIFE, DUMBASS. You're stupid. You got caught. You're twice as stupid. Next! Is this where we are in society today? /headinhands | | Monday, August 6th, 2007 | | 2:28 pm |
Mind Control with Derrin Brown
If you get Sci Fi channel, watch this show. It's awesome. Is it bad that I've been thinking about caroling stuff for at least 4 or 5 months? Auditions aren't for another month... | | Saturday, August 4th, 2007 | | 3:00 pm |
Hrm... 56%Mingle2 - Free Online Dating I guess I could up my chances if I stopped trying to save my friends, family and complete strangers... but hey... if that's how I die, I'm ok with that. | | 2:20 pm |
My life in a nutshell...
So, just to catch up everyone who gives a rip as to what I'm doing here... 1) Having quite my job with CHP back in October, I was unemployed for a few months and then picked up a really great job in March or so with El Monte RV. From my desk, I ahve a nice view of the 5 Freeway just south of the 605 freeway interchange. If you want to rent an RV, give me a call! 2) Did two shows so far this yea, one really good and one really bad - the bad one isn't worth mentioning. The good one closed last weekend and totally rocked. It was "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" out at Palos Verdes, the first of about 6 productions to come out from now to the end of the year in Southern California. Got rave reviews and was a kickin' good time, even if it was 40 miles from my house one-way. This show, if you don't know is based on the book Charles Dickens was writing when he died. Because he died without leaving any ending, no one knows who the true murderer is supposed to be, but in the show, which won a Best Show Tony in 1988 (or so), the audience votes on who they think the murderer is! Thus, the ending can be different every single night! One night I was voted murderer and we caught it on video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Arf5oNIqbpwEnjoy! And no, I didn't get to keep the coat. I am having one made tho. 3) Got flown out to Nashville to do a one-night Elvis gig about 3 weeks ago for the National Association of School Nurses. Video link follows, click on 'Section 5' to see the King in action. http://quickstream.tv/nasn07/I will reward handsomely anyone who is able to capture this in a format I can upload to my Youtube or MySpace, or who can direct me to a Freeware program where I can do so. FRAPS doesn't work - I tried. 4) Fell in love with a yet another girl who loves me as a really good friend. There's just wayy too much of this going on and it has to stop. Really. Other than that, not a whole heck of a lot, although you must admit that everything above could be considered 'a lot'. Questions? Comments? I await your mockery. |
